Bob Guccione, the founder of Penthouse Magazine has died at the age of 79 at his residence in Plano, Texas. He had been fighting cancer for a long time now, and on Wednesday, he finally succumbed to his illness.
Bob was the man who had taken magazine explicit subjects to a whole different level, which had earned him a trademark in his era.
Today, his magazine is considered to be a direct rival to the to Playboy magazine in the US. As long as Bob was with the magazine, the Penthouse name earned him a revenue worth $4 billion. But as time passed, his magazine empire fell considerably, with some reasons being that there were some bad investments made in the business and the strict competition in the pornography market.
He died at his home, with his wife, Dawn Warren Guccione, and two of his children beside him. It seems he will be missed by many, as he was very well known despite his ripe age. His friends and close relatives were shocked to hear the news of his death.
