The coronavirus pandemic started off in the month of December 2019 and since then the world has gone through a lot emotionally, physically and economically in about a year. Lockdowns, economic downfalls, mental health physical health a lot has been compromised but the good news is that the peak is over. But that does not mean that the worst is gone and people now need to be extra careful to make sure that the second wave does not return. A number of Americans are now travelling this holiday season and the numbers are now going down despite warnings from the authorities.

American authorities had earlier sent out warnings to the population to avoid unnecessary travel as the scare of the pandemic continues. But to the contrary, the Transportation Security Administration said that it had screened 1,128,773 people at the airports across the nation. This is a big sign that despite the warnings, the public is continuing to travel. Nearly 1.2 million people have flown last week which has marked the third busiest day for the US air travel since the month of March, 2020.

The Saturday TSA traffic was about 45 percent of the air traffic on the day after Christmas a year back. This means that still many people are travelling. Dr. Anthony Fauci, while talking at the Wolf Blitzer last week had said that the figure is concerning as the air travel has spiked in the past week. In the US the air travel numbers has hit more than a million travelers for about six straight days. TSA revealed that nearly 9 million people were screened at the checkpoints ever since the holiday season started off on December 18, 2020.

Earlier a similar figure was noticed on the Sunday after Thanksgiving Day. The increase in travel has left the authorities worried that it could spike another wave of infections especially at a time when a new mutated version has become the new threat.
