Milan Fashion Week 2017 Trends are Here!
This season at Milan Fashion Week was different as there was immense diversity in inspiration, themes and collections, from the frenzied styling of Gucci to the earthy North African wanderlust of Uma Wang.
The spring/summer catwalks illustrated several fashion trends; for example, pleats, fringes, boho, and techno. Here’s a glimpse of what stood out for us at the Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’17 Catwalks;
Techno Sports
The fashion trend involves widespread utilization of sporty meshes and techno fabrics in fashion collections. The Milan fashion week also showed fashion trends that communicate the Italian love for football.
Fendi and Stell Jean used sporty strips to indicate their passion for football. Designers used Velcro fastenings and scuba mesh fabrics to show techno sports fashion. Donatella Versace explained that sportswear is critical in the success of the future fashion industry. During the Milan fashion week, Versace used technical fabrics to show sportswear fashion.
Pleats Are Back In Fashion
Issey Miyake participated during the Milan fashion week actively. Several fashion designers used the metallic pleated silhouette. Pleated fashion has been popular in recent fashion seasons. Marni and Jil Sander showed trousers and skirts that have tightly packed pleats. The kinetic movement fashion trend was shown during the Milan fashion week. Some designers are attracted by the sensuous bounce of the fabrics that are finely pleated. Jin Sander and Marni showed beautiful round-shouldered dresses in the fashion catwalk.
Fringe Benefits
Fringes were big this season at Milan fashion week. Bags and dresses had attractive and long fringes. Even the single dangly earrings had fringes.
Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer Collection ’17 used fringes to demonstrate the sexy and dynamic movement of dresses.
The Americana Hippy
The Etro spring/summer 2017 collection revolved around haute Bohemian looks. The bohemian would find kaftans and long duster coats in a mix of Oriental and Americana prints and styling. This was a huge hit with the audience.
Tropical Prints
The fallout from the Rio Olympics is that some designers have gone very tropical. MaxMara hits the jungle for summer with printed giant tropical greenery over its taut bomber jackets, sportswear and sun visors while Dolce & Gabbana models paraded in retro dresses, embellished military jackets and denims.
Modern Classics
There is a subtle updating of the classics, be it a trench coat, a box pleat skirt, a sweater or a crisp cotton shirt in collections at Prada, Bottega Veneta and Fendi.
Here are a few more highlights from the spring/Summer Collection ’17 unveiled at Milan Fashion Week all through last week;
Gucci reinvented the 1940s Hollywood sportswear using ivory ensembles.
The Denim was reinvented by Giambattista Valli during the Milan fashion week. The patchwork jeans had a mixture of denim and brocade.
Denim and its summery equivalent chambray appeared with pretty broderie Anglaise embroidery for romantic dresses at Luisa Beccaria’s Spring/summer Collection Ready to wear 2017.
While, Jeremy Scott, in his Valley of the Dolls collection for Moschino, dressed up the Hadids like actual paper dolls.
Alberta Ferretti Spring-Summer 2016 collection airy, flying, translucent featured maxi dresses with brown and black color scales that moved audience into a real and hot desert with the hues.
