Updated Trends: Fernando Alonso Takes Championship Lead After Winning The South Korean Grand Prix
Fernando Alonso, Ferrari’s Spanish driver. has taken an impressive championship lead after winning the South Korean Grand Prix. It is one of the best wins for him this time, as the track conditions in Korea were really dangerous and risky because of the heavy rains. Lewis Hamilton of McLaren Mercedes sliced on to the second spot and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa managed to grab the third spot.
Jenson Button of McLaren Mercedes had won this championship last year, but this year he managed to get a 12th position on the grid. After managing this win, Alonso has gained the top spot is 21 points above Lewis Hamilton. But when Alonso was asked how he felt about this win, he stated that nothing much has changed, and just looking further in his career.
He said in his own words after he won the Korean Grand Prix, “We know with the new points system everything can change in one race — if you don’t score, you lose 25 points to your opponents”. The race had begun with the safety car leading the cars, as there was heavy rain pouring down on the tracks. Eventually the race was delayed by 45 minutes but it finally commenced later on.
