People often focus on skin care and hair care but forget about taking care of the lips. Not many realize that it is equally important to take care of your lips. It is indeed possible to restore the health of your lips, but that might take some time for satisfactory results. The best part is that you do not have to spend a fortune on expensive creams and treatments. You can do it with the help of a few simple home remedies to achieve healthy and pink lips. Apart from the home remedies, you can also include a few foods in your diet.
1. Keep yourself hydrated – When compared to the rest of your skin, your lips are more prone to get dried and chapped. You need to drink plenty of water to protect your lips from drying out. Drinking water helps to lock the moisture and also help to keep your lips plump. It also helps to avoid any discoloration which is common in a number of youngsters.
2. Exfoliate regularly – It is not enough to exfoliate once in a while when you find time. But it is important to exfoliate at least once in a week. You can do this when you wake up in the morning and brush your lips with a soft toothbrush or a wash cloth that will help to remove the dead cells and dead skin flakes. It is important to remove the dead skin cells so your lips are not prone to any skin infection.
3. Moisturize – The lips are prone to exposure to the sun, especially the bottom lip. Due to this, it become prone to skin infections. Make sure that you use a day time lip balm that contains minimum of SPF15 or higher.
4. Apply primer – Before you apply a lip balm or a lipstick, you can lightly brush your lips with coconut oil or pure almond oil. This acts like a protective layer for the lips and helps to lock in the moisture.
