At the end of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India, badminton player Saina Nehwal has bagged the 38th gold for the country, after beating Malaysia’s Mew Choo Wong. The gold medal win made India surpass England in the medals tally to grab the second spot. She ended the game with 21-19, 23-21, 21-13 on the score board.

After winning this gold medal, Saina has become the first woman from India to bag this honor in the badminton event. It is a very proud moment for India, as the country has managed to gain the second spot at the end of the Commonwealth games.  India being the host of the CWG, has indeed performed really well in these games.

Saina looked like she was in really good form this year and not to mention that she has been performing really well. She out beat all her opponents at the CWG fair and square and thus does not raise any sort of questions over her. Indian fans are proud of Saina today, as she has created history in bagging the first gold in the womens badminton event by an Indian at the CWG .

The Commonwealth Games came to an end on October 14th 2010.
