People of Minnesota can now order to get tested at home with the help of saliva test. So now the population can now get themselves tested for COVID-19 without the need of leaving their homes. An announcement was made by the Minnesota Department of Health that it has expanded its pilot program for its at-home COVID-19 test across the state.

This means that anyone in Minnesota can now order a saliva test that would be delivered at the comfort at their homes. The samples will then be sent the new saliva testing lab on Oakdale, Minnesota. This is a lab where the samples will be sent with a pre-paid label. After the testing has been done the results will be conveyed to the person through email within 24 to 48 hours. For those who might think how accurate the saliva test is against the regular swab test, reports say that the saliva test is as accurate as the nasal and mouth swab test.

So far the at-home testing program has been launched in 23 countries. The Minnesota Department of Health will be opening 11 new testing centres for COVID-19 in Minnesota in the next few weeks. The saliva test for COVID-19 can be taken through email or could also be picked up in person from a number of locations which is growing everyday. The tests that are conducted are sent to a lab in Oakdale and the results will be available within 24 to 48 hours.

The saliva test kit can be claimed by anyone and even to those who do not have any insurance. The best part is that they are free and will be available to anyone irrespective of the fact, if they have symptoms or not. The coronavirus pandemic has paved way for a number of medicines and tests to have emergency approval from the Food and Drug Administration. A vaccine is also underway and might soon be available for people across the globe.
