The Mayor’s removal was done immediately after the order of the President. For the moment, Mr. Luzhkov’s deputy has been appointed in his place to be as an acting Mayor for the city. The Mayor’s exit was looking very bright, as of recently he has been attacked by the Russian media consistently.

He has been accused of corruption in Russia, as one of the media reports state that he had been channeling funds and other lucrative deals to his wife who is a prominent property developer, and also the current richest woman in Russia. In addition to this he is also accused of being unable to sort out Moscow’s traffic jams, and was reported to have been on vacation, when the surrounding of the Moscow city was engulfed with forest fire and smog recently. As per Luzhkov, he feels that he has been fixed by the commands who are above him, but the Kremlin on the other hand has denied its involvement in this case.
