You’d think that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West would be happy with having two healthy babies. But for them, more is more. The famous couple already have two adorable toddlers – daughter North West, 4, and son Saint West, 18 months. However, they are really looking to expand their family and are apparently going to science for their solution. According to reports, the reality star and rapper will be birthing their third baby through a surrogate. It’s actually becoming a popular practice among affluent couples who have difficulty conceiving, to approach a surrogate to carry their off-spring.
In a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the reality star opened up about the difficult pregnancies she had to face, especially with her second child. She had visited her OB/GYN, Dr. Paul Crane, who explained the risk she will be putting herself and her future baby in, should she decide to get pregnant again. “Every medical issue that you could probably have, I feel like I get, and I worry so much about it…I just don’t think that pregnancy and me really agree with each other.”
Kim Kardashian even spoke to her elder sister, Kourtney Kardashian about the possibility of surrogacy. She had said at the time, “I’m definitely leaning more towards I want to try. After talking to Kanye, I think I always knew that surrogacy was an option, but I didn’t think it was that realistic of an option, and now I feel like that’s my reality. I feel like surrogacy really is the only other option for me. Whatever’s meant to be will be.”
When Kim Kardashian was expecting her first child, the process wasn’t easy. She had to give birth through induced labour at 34 weeks. She blogged about her ordeal, stating that North wouldn’t come out naturally, and that she “stayed attached inside my uterus, which is a condition called placenta accreta. This is a high-risk condition that happens when the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall. My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails. How disgusting and painful!!! My mom was crying; she had never seen anything like this before. My delivery was fairly easy, but then going through that – it was the most painful experience of my life! They gave me a second epidural but we were racing against time, so I just had to deal.”
If they do go ahead with the surrogacy plan, then according to TMZ, they would need to first make a deposit with the agency for an amount of $68,850. After that, they would need to shell out an additional $4,500 per month for 10 months an additional $5,000 per month per additional child being carried by the surrogate. If after the pregnancy it is determined that the surrogate cannot retain her reproductive organs, she will be paid an additional $4,000.
For the Kardashians and Wests, this is pretty affordable and a keen way for them to create more progeny through the magical combination of science and miracles.
