American based wholesale retailers Costco and Home Depot have announced a few temporary changes due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The new changes will come to effect from April 3, 2020 and Costo has decided that it will allow only two people in to the warehouse with every membership card. The fresh changes have been made as a measure for the safety of the people who are shopping as well as the staff members working in the store. It is also an effort to maintain the social distancing effort which is essential to follow amidst the crisis. Both the stores will close at 6:30 pm from Monday to Friday.

A message was posted by the president and CEO of Costco Wholesale, Craig Jelinek, who said that as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, they are committed towards the health and safety of their customers and its employees and are also determined to serve their communities. Craig added that they are at present closely monitoring the current situation and is also cooperating with the public health guidelines. The CEO added that since there is a surge in the business, they need to take care of the number of members who are entering the warehouses and are also requesting the customers and its staff members to follow social distancing.

The president has also assured that they are taking sanitization efforts at the store and are making sure that the merchandise shelves, shopping cart handles, registers and front-end belts are cleaned frequently. The CEO has added that they are working hard to provide the essentials which are high on demand. The store has also eliminated any kind of spring promotions to avoid any crowd rushing to the stores.

It is also distributing thermometers for its associates in the stores and distribution centres so the staff members can be checked on a regular basis for any symptoms of COVID-19.
