Updated Trends: Israel Strongly Protests President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s Visit To Lebanon
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Lebanon has led to strong reactions from Israel. Reports state that there have been a number of protests in Israel, marking discontent over the President’s visit to their neighbouring country. There were around 100 Israeli activists who have protested at the Fatima gate, against the visit of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Israeli deputy minister Ayoub al-Qarra stated that Lebanon should be very careful against the moves of Iran. They should be vigilant and smart to see what Iran is up to. He also added, “You must prevent the Iranian regime from controlling your own state”.
The activists have openly protested at the Fatima gate of Israel. Fatima gate is situated at the border between Israel and Lebanon, and was used as a former crossing between the two countries, when their relations were stable. The protesters also indicated their discontent by releasing blue and white colored balloons in their air, which resemble the Israeli flag.
