Online food delivery platform DoorDash has been active ever since the pandemic started. It has expanded its delivery options and now also delivers everyday essentials along with items from the convenience stores. People will now also be able to add COVID-19 testing kits to the list. An announcement was made by DoorDash which said that it was joining hands with two of the digital health companies that will allow people to order COVID-18 testing kits as well. The kits can be ordered directly from the app.

From March 22, 2021, the company will be delivering the COVID-19 kits from Vault Health and Everlywell in the market across the United States where there are DashMart Locations. The DashMart locations are at Chicago, Baltimore, Dallas, Cleveland, Phoenix and Minneapolis. The kits are expected to be made available at more locations in future. People will be able to place their orders and the kits will be delivered on the same day.

A COVID-19 testing kit from Everlywell costs $109. It can be done by the patient themselves with the help of nasal swabs. The testing kit from Vault Health is priced at $119 and can be done through a saliva test. It can also be done with the help of a guidance from someone from the company through Zoom. The tests are of PCR variety and have been approved for at-home use by the Food and Drug Administration. The results of the test are expected to come back within 24 to 48 hours.

DoorDash is not the first company to deliver COVID-19 test at home. Lapcorp has also worked with FedEx that helped to deliver COVID-19 testing kits to many people in two days. DoorDash has claimed that its average time of delivery will take less than one hour. Due to the convenience, more people would be encouraged to get themselves tested and get themselves treated if needed.
