English singer and song writer, Ed Sheeran has been ordered to remove the huge pub sign that is dedicated to his new wife in the ground of his mansion worth £1.5 million along with a sauna beside his wildlife pond. The 28 year old musician has been told by the planning officers in Suffolk to take down the unauthorized signage from his drinking den which was named The Lancestor Lock after his wife Cherry Lancestor Seaborn.
Sheeran got married to his childhood sweetheart before Christmas in 2018, and removed a sauna from beside the pond after council officials told him that it needed planning permission. A spokesperson from the Suffolk Coastal District Council said, “During a site visit in March, it was found that a sauna has been constructed near to the pond. We have raised concerns regarding this structure, which requires either planning permission or removal. We have also requested that all unauthorised signage be removed from the Grade II-listed barn.”
The singer has hung a big 16 ft sign on the side of his pub that he has created from the barn in the grounds of his estate. Ed Sheeran had applied for Planning permission in 2017 to build the pub that has underground rooms and an underground passage to the main house. The plan was permitted but had to be restored with bricks and tiles that were in-keeping with the original barn and he did not get the planning permission for the sign and will now have to be taken down.
The planning officers were also visiting the singer’s property after the neighbours feared that his new wild-life pond can be used as a swimming pool this summer. The locals raised a concern about the new pond which has a jetty and two sets of steps and is said to have been installed by Gartenart that specializes in wild swimming pools.
