They may have played secondary roles in an all-star ensemble for Suicide Squad, but our most favorite demented couple are getting their own spin-off! The Joker and Harley Quinn film is in the works, if reports are to be believed.
Producers and directors of hit series This Is Us, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are said to be in final negotiations with Warner Bros. and DC to begin writing for the The Joker-Harley Quinn saga. Though The Joker is getting his own film, this one is another exclusive flick that Warner Bros. is trying to milk out of their superhero squad from DC.
Jared Leto and Margot Robbie, who played the gruesome twosome in Suicide Squad will now get all the screen space they need to wreck as much havoc as they can. Leto has not been roped in for The Joker solo film, however. A source reportedly told a leading tabloid that the upcoming The Joker-Harley Quinn film will be a “criminal love story… an insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on Benzedrine.”
Meanwhile, the solo The Joker film will be directed by award-winning filmmaker, Martin Scorsese. It is set during the ’80s and will envision a mafia-style backdrop, similar to Scorsese’s previous hit flicks like Goodfellas and Raging Bull.
