Entertainment provider The Walt Disney Company has broke an all-time record for annual box office earnings and has made more money by July than any movie studio has ever made in a whole year. On July 28, 2019 the company announced that it brought in $7.67 billion to date worldwide while breaking the record Disney had previously set when it brought in $7.61 billion over 2016.

So far three of its films each have made more than $1 billion globally for Disney. Two of the films are from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel. Last week at San Diego ComicCon, the studio introduced the stars of future Marvel movies in the fourth phase of MCU including Natalie Portman as Thor and Mahersala Ali as Blade. The third big film is Aladin which has also made some big money at the box office.

Meanwhile, the other two films, which are also both animated, are also close to reaching the billion-dollar mark. Toy Story 4 and The Lion King have minted more than $900 million at the box offices across the globe. The Lion King has an impressive star cast including Seth Rogen, Danny Glover and Beyonce. The Afrobeats-heavy soundtrack of the film was produced by Beyonce as “a love letter to Africa”. It also has American super musicians Jay-Z, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar who had earlier produced the soundtrack for Black Panther of Marvel.

All the above big names clearly indicate that Walt Disney is a movie making force that everyone wants to work with. Moreover, based on the box office reports, it seems like the audience is surely eager to see such collaborations based films.
