So many of us wander through life without knowing in which direction we are going. As long as we seem afloat, we think we’re doing ok. But as the saying goes, only dead fish go with the flow. How come there are only a limited number of people who seem so fulfilled in life? Are they “lucky”? Not really. Sure, they are happy and successful in whatever they are doing, but that’s because they choose to be.
The truth is that if you really want to make it in life, you need to find out what your purpose is. The phrase “life purpose” means different things to different people. For some, it means having the perfect occupation and career. For others, it’s finding that deeper meaning to life, in a spiritual way. Whatever your meaning to your own life’s purpose is, you won’t reach it if you don’t know what it is.
If you’re grasping at straws, trying to figure out why on earth you are here, then maybe these pointers can help you on finding your life purpose –
Be specific
Close your eyes. Now imagine your Utopia. The perfect life where you are sure you are going to be blissed out. It may involve you sitting in the CEO’s chair, or escaping to places unknown. Whatever your dream is, remember one thing: It is totally achievable, and all of it is in your own hands. Once you have your goals in place, you can then go about charting the map on how to get there.
Your personality
A lot of who you want to become is about who you are. Obviously, your personality needs to match your life’s goals. If you want to be a philanthropist, for example, you can’t have the personality of a selfish person. Sometimes becoming the person you want to be requires that you make changes to the type of person you are right now.
Creative outlet
Whether you are the most richest person in the world or an average Joe, everyone has a certain hobby or talent that they enjoy on the side. It helps one relax the mind, find their zen and get back to working on their life goals with more energy. Billionaires from Richard Branson to Mark Zuckerberg always have “me time” where they unwind for a bit.
Do what you love
There is a saying that goes If you do what you love, you won’t work a day in your life. The reason you need to pursue your passion is because you will have fun doing it, and want to give as much focus to it. If you’re working for the sake of earning money, you will soon find that you feel drained out and have no fulfilment in life.
Friend circle
Who you have surrounding you and who you spend time with determines where your life is headed. If your close circle involves those who are motivated and driven, you will also feel the same way sooner or later. On the other hand, if you spend time with slackers, don’t expect your life to go anywhere, anytime soon.
