Physical inactivity in women can lead to fatal blood clots?

    Updated Trends: A recent study published by bmj.com has revealed that women who sit for a longer time are more vulnerable to the risk of developing blood clots in the lungs which may be fatal. The risk was found in the women who lead an inactive life and spend most of the time sitting.

    In simple words, women who led a sedentary lifestyle were prone to the risk of developing pulmonary embolism. The researchers in the US had studied more than 70,000 female nurses, for 18 years and had collected information about their daily lifestyle.

    The study had found that the risk in the inactive women was double than the women who lead an active life. It had also revealed that an inactive life was directly related to the heart disease and hypertension, which could be one of the reasons linked to the arterial and venous disease.

    Christopher Kabrhel, a professor from the department of emergency medicine in Massachusetts General Hospital in the US had said that physical inactivity could lead to the risk of pulmonary embolism. It is essential to have physical activity to promote the venous blood return. Professor said that public health campaigns should be held to encourage the women to lead an active life.
