Italy was one of the worst hit countries in the world and has marked the death of about 33,415 people since the pandemic started in February, 2020. The number of new infections has now reduced remarkably and another sign of hope has been shown which has hinted that the potency of the virus is probably reducing. A senior doctor in Italy has said that the coronavirus is losing its potency and has now become less harmful than what it was two months back.

Alberto Zangrilllo, is the head of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan in Italy who has opined that the virus clinically does not exist. The doctor while talking to a leading daily informed that the swabs that were taken in the last ten days showed less load of the virus in quantitative terms, of the samples that were taken a few months back. The European country of Italy marked the third-highest death toll in the globe from coronavirus and the first case had surfaced in February 21, 2020.

The number of new infections fell remarkably in the month of May, 2020 and this is the reason, the government of Italy is now slowly lifting the lockdown restrictions. Zangrillo added that some of the experts had even warned about the second wave of infections, but those making such claims should know about the fresh reality.

Despite the fact that the number of cases has reduced, the government is insisting that caution should be taken on a very strict basis and people should continue to get used to a new normal. It was also said that the Italians should now take maximum precautions by wearing masks all the time, maintain social distancing measures, avoid mass gatherings and frequently wash hands to maintain hygiene. It is not just Zangrillo another doctor from Italy also talked about the effect of virus weakening. Matteo Bassetti, from San Martino hospital expressed that the strength of the virus two months back was way higher than what it is now.
