Amidst competition in the market, Amazon is putting its best foot forward in terms of attracting its customers. The e-commerce giant has recently added a new benefit for its customers of the Prime membership program with free grocery delivery. An announcement was made on October 29, 2019 which stated that it will deliver grocery products in the two-hour window for all the Prime members, who reside in the 2,000 regions and are eligible for the service. The Prime members usually pay $119 per year for free shipping and other benefits and had to pay $14.99 per month so they could get access to Amazon Fresh that offers free two-hour grocery delivery.
The members will not have to pay anything extra and will get free grocery shipments for products like vegetables, snacks, fresh meat and more. Stephanie Landry, the vice president at Amazon’s Grocery Delivery section while talking to a leading daily said that groceries is a segment that is fast growing and the new program will help to attract more users. Landry added that the new program is expected to give a boost to the sales and can prove to be one of the best benefits of Prime.
The recent change has also reflected the delivery efficiency of Amazon as it is looking forward to shorted the delivery time. The short delivery time often leads to more frequent purchases and bigger spending from the customers. This year, the company has decided to make its one-day delivery perk as default for the Prime members. Amazon is also making several investments as it attempts to grow its warehouse footprint and delivery infrastructure.
The recent efforts by Amazon has also indicated that it continues to make the Prime membership more attractive and appealing. There are more than 100 million Prime members across the globe , but there are concerns about a slow growth in recent times. The new benefit by Amazon will be rolled out in phases.
