After the 7.1 magnitude New Zealand earthquake, which occurred on the South Island of the country and has caused havoc around the region, a second minor quake hit the Hawkes Bay, North Island on 10.48 A.M Tuesday. The magnitude of the quake was measured at 5.2 on the Richter scale, even though we can take it as a strong category of a jolt.

It been for the first time that New Zealand is seeing such a phase and series of earthquakes in the country. There has been more than enough damage done in New Zealand by the last weeks quake, which clocked 7.1 on the scale. The government even pressed an emergency situation around the country.

The depth of the North Island tremor was found to be 15 kms deep and some 200 kms from the capital, Wellington. The previous quake has caused a total damage worth $1.4 billion in the Christchurch region, which includes private and government property and infrastructure.
