Updated Trends: Vanatu Earthquake Generates Mini Tsunami In The South Pacific

It was panic and shock that the residents of Vanatu experienced, when a powerful earthquake in the region generated a mini tsunami. The people were in panic as they ran for safety to find higher ground. The tsunami hit Vanatu on Tuesday this week.

Reports say that the height of the tsunami reached 9 inches, which was observed by the Tsunami Warning Center in the Pacific. There has been no damage or injuries caused by the mini tsunami. But the 7.5 magnitude earthquake which hit the region, caused many buildings to shake rapidly and this resulted to power cuts.

The earthquake was generated at a depth of 25 miles and hit some 22 miles off Port Villa. The New Zealand high commission stated that they are still receiving aftershocks from the powerful earthquake, as a result people started to run away from the center of the city, as they feared that a tsunami could follow the powerful quake.
