Updated Trends: Surfer Killed By Shark Attack In California

In a rare instance of a fatal shark attack, a surfer on Surf Beach, Santa Barbara, California was killed in a shark attack. The surfer was19 year old, Lucas Ransom, who was surf boarding with his friends just 100 yards away from the beach, when this oceanic creature pulled him into the water and inflicted a fatal wound on him. After the fatal attack took place, the local beaches were closed down for 72 hours.

The reason we say it is rare, is because there are hardly any fatal attack reports from the world, which denote a shark encountering a human. The attack on Lucas was so gruesome that the creature bit his left leg off and as a result of which he bled to death.

The shark bite force could be noticed on Lucas’s surf board as it had bitten a huge chunk out of it. According to some eyewitnesses, the shark was at least 20 feet long, but they are not very sure about it. His friend who accompanied his narrated the incident saying “It was really fast. You just saw a red wave and this water is blue – as blue as it could ever be – and it was just red, the whole wave”. The blood from his friend’s body was all over the water, as a result of which he died very soon.
