The importance of working out and staying healthy has increased in recent times due to the coronavirus pandemic. Apart from working out, it is also important to have a balanced diet while the body is burning those extra calories. After an intense workout, the body has burned calories and is now looking forward for some energy. This is when the body needs to have the proper nutrition. Here are a few foods items that you can have after an intense workout.

1. A bowl of mixed fruits – Fruits are a great source of natural sugar. You can cut a bunch of some fresh fruits including, bananas, apples, grapes, prunes, strawberries, kiwis, papaya and watermelon to make a wholesome bowl of fruits. To add some tang to it , you can squeeze some lemon juice to it.

2. Sweet potatoes – While one needs a lot of proteins post workout, you also need some good carbs. Sweet potatoes are high on fibre and are easily available. You just need to boil and eat them. Optionally, you can sauté some of the boiled potatoes in one spoon of olive oil and it makes a great and healthy snack.

3. Smoothies – There are a number of options when it comes to smoothies. It makes a wholesome breakfast. You just have to toss some bananas, blueberries, strawberries, pineapples with some milk in to the blender. Fruits are rich in anti-oxidants and also restore the energy levels in the body. Optionally, instead of milk, you can also add yoghurt. If you are lactose intolerant, you can add almond milk alternatively.

4. Turmeric milk – Turmeric milk can be made by adding 3/4th spoon of turmeric to a glass of hot milk. The spice is a medicinal herb and has anti-inflammatory properties. Drinking this post workout helps to detoxify the body of the toxins and restores the energy levels. It is also a great drink for healing infections.
