Sandra Bullock donated $1 million to Hurricane Harvey victims

There’s an emergency currently flooding Texas in the form of Hurricane Harvey. With flood waters reaching an all-time high, leaving thousands of people and animals stranded, it’s great to see that people are coming together to help those affected. Leaving aside Melania Trump’s stilettos and FLOTUS hat, the donations flooding in for Texas have crossed millions of dollars.

Oscar winner Sandra Bullock has made one huge contribution to the Red Cross, donating $1 million. The star spent a lot of time in the state during the shooting of The Blind Side and seems to have a soft spot for the people there. She said of her massive contribution, “I’m just grateful I can do it. We have to take care of one another.”

Meanwhile, reality stars the Kardashians have made their offering to Texas, collectively contributing $500,000 to the victims. Though that is a relatively small contribution from the super wealthy, mini-army of Kardashian-Jenners, it’s still something.

Beyoncé, who is proud of her Houston heritage is also contributing through her local pastor. In an official statement released by her, the singer said, “My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help. I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor to implement a plan to help as many as we can.”

And comedian Kevin Hart has also done his part with contributions. Through a Houston Relief challenge, he raised over $800,000 in 24 hours from over 3,000 donors. Other celebs who have pitched in include Jennifer Lopez and beau Alex Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown and TI. Local Texan celebs like Miranda Lambert, Eva Longoria, Hilary Duff and others have sent their prayers to those affected.
