Eating nuts help in improvising mood?

    Updated Trends: Eating nuts may not be that good for the body, but can help in influencing how people feel. Researchers in Spain have found that nuts have the capability to influence the mood of the people.

    The research was conducted by the team led by Prof. Cristina Andres-Lacueva, from the University of Barcelona. 22 people were given 30 grams of mixed nuts which contained almonds, walnuts and brazil nuts every day for 12 weeks.

    The research team had also appointed another team which had 20 men and women who were asked to avoid nuts. All the participants who were involved in the research had metabolic syndrome, obesity problem and were also prone to type 2 diabetes, along with a risk of heart stroke.

    The almonds and other nuts are known for their health benefits as they lower the risk of heart problems and cholesterol and full of fiber and make people feel full for a longer time. The research had found that those who had consumed nuts had higher levels of serotonin metabolites. Serotonin is a chemical in the brain which helps in the regulation of appetite, sleep and also mood. It is popularly known as the feel good substance. But it has also been said that it would take longer to confirm if it makes people feel happier.
