1. Prevention is the best strategy – A little bit of defense is always a good idea, especially when we know that flu and cold season is at its peak. Make sure to drink plenty of water and take some vitamin C, it is as simple as that. You should up your vitamin C intake to 1,000 mg daily and remember to stay hydrated – particularly when traveling – in order to ward off germs.

2. Eat for immunity – If it happens that your carefully-planned prevention plans did not work and you catch a cold, you can still put up a good fight with immunity-boosting foods such as sweet potatoes, whole grains and yogurt. They will help you recover and keep your immune system in great shape.

3. Deal with it – If you are already dealing with a cold or the flu during holiday season, there are ways to get the much-needed relief while traveling. Make sure to relieve sinus and ear pressure by placing a warm, damp towel on your forehead before takeoff. Stretching will help you in soothing sickness-related aches and pains and light exercising will get you on the road to recovery faster.
