UpdatedTrends.com: Most of us enjoy sweet treats as they are one of the best ways to feed our body’s pleasure centers, as well as to satisfy the soul. However, the awful truth is that sugar is linked to metabolic problems and cancer, so here are 4 healthy ways that will keep you away from those delicious, yet sinful desserts.
1. Wait for 15 minutes after a meal – The craving for something sweet is the strongest right after you finish your meal, however, if you take a small break, it will pass, so make sure to entertain yourself by taking a 15-minute walk or listen to some relaxing music.
2. Eat enough protein – If your sugar cravings persist, that is your body’s way of telling you it needs more protein. Keep in mind to incorporate turkey breast, fish, cheese, tofu, beans, eggs, milk, yogurt, nuts and seeds into your menu.
3. Use fruits and spices instead of sugar – When baking, try to use fruits and spices such as cardamom and cinnamon to sweeten food, as opposed to refined sugar.
4. Eat dark chocolate – It is good for your health as dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants which help in decreasing your blood pressure and lifting your mood. You can add a couple of walnuts for a deeper flavor, but make sure to limit yourself to two squares only, as dark chocolate is high in calories.
