UpdatedTrends.com: Even though plenty of women put eye makeup on a regular, or even daily basis, a small number of them are aware of the fact that this might lead to short- or long-term damage. Here are 4 ways makeup can damage your eyes and how to avoid it.
1. Bacterial infections – Wearing eye makeup can result in one of the most common problems – bacterial conjunctivitis. This occurs because bacteria gets into the products and in order to avoid it, simply do not use makeup past its expiration date. Also, keep in mind not to share your makeup with others and always wash your hands before applying it.
2. Toxic heavy metals – Certain makeup products contain heavy metals, which can cause damage to your eyes. It is important to read labels before making a purchase and make sure to avoid products which contain cadmium, lead, nickel, arsenic, beryllium, thallium and selenium and choose products that are more natural and non-toxic instead.
3. Dry eyes – Another possible side effect of eye makeup are dry eyes, so it is important to stay hydrated, eat plenty of fruit and veggies and use natural tear lubricant.
4. Allergic reactions – If you use the same products for a long time, this might result in developing allergies. Take a break from eye makeup or change brands and do not forget to take vitamin C in order to reduce inflammation.
