4 Reasons vegetarian diet can be economic

UpdatedTrends.com: Many think that being a vegetarian costs a lot, but the fact is that one can lead a vegetarian lifestyle and still be able to save money by being a little creative and smart. Here are  four reasons vegetarian diet can be financially smart.

1. Can prevent medical expenses: Being a vegetarian is good for your health and the foods you eat are a good source of iron, vitamin B, vitamin C and several other minerals. Research says that eating too much red meat can lead to atherosclerosis or thickening of artery walls with plaque, which in turn can lead to heart attack or stroke.

2. Can avoid rising meat prices: The prices of meat are already high and will most likely be on the rise in the future. US Department of Agriculture says that the prices of meat and poultry are expected to rise by 2.5 percent to 3.5 percent in 2014.

3. Grow it yourself: Vegetables are easy to grow at home and that way you can be sure that they are organic and chemical-free. You just need some space in the garden and plant vegetables you would like to have on a daily basis.

4. Preservation of fruits and vegetables: Many fruits and vegetables can be frozen at the peak of ripeness until they are ready to be used.
