We all know Leslie Jones as the woman who never run out of punches and knows how to keep an audience on their toes! Be it the script for Saturday Night Live or hosting the BET Awards 2017 – Leslie Jones is definitely the host with most. She hosted the four hour long awards show and managed to keep the star studded audience in splits with her jokes, pun (some were awkward) and really shouted (a lot!)
The annual BET Awards 2017 were held on Sunday June 25, 2017 and honored some of the biggest entertainers of the year! While Beyoncé won big (as expected) her sister Solange too took away the Centric Award and called it the best birthday ever, as she turned 31 on Saturday.
Bruno Mars won his first BET Award ever, while Remy Ma ended rival Nicki Minaj’s seven year long streak as she walked away with the Best Female Hip Hop Artist Award!
Presenters at the awards night included – Yara Shahidi, Cardi B, Issa Rae, Jamie Foxx, La La Anthony, Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah, Robin Thede, Trevor Noah, Demetrius Shipp Jr. and Cari Champion.
In case you missed Leslie Jones’s entry, she yelled her hosting duties like she meant it as she hit the stage! She was determined to have the audience have some joy, whether they liked it or not.
“I want joy in this house. We are going to have joy in this house! We’re about to have joy! We’re about to have joy!”
During her introduction, the host even joked about the confusing names of some of the biggest rappers in the industry today. However, she apologized upfront incase she messes up someone’s name!
“Ol’ Dirty Bastard was an Ol’ Dirty Bastard! Biggie, he was just big! Busta Rhymes, you knew he was going to bust a rhyme! What’s a Little Yachty? Is that a boat? Is that a small boat? Why don’t you want a big boat? I don’t understand.”
No, we are not talking about the Political Bush in America – this one’s more personal, specifically down south (if you know what we mean!)
Leslie Jones took the moment to call out Amber Rose’s full frontal moment and revealed to the world that she rocks a full bush down there! Then she went on to joke that they had some similarities and headed over to a chair, sat down and spread her legs.
“Hey Amber Rose! I saw you on Instagram. I saw that bush. Me and you got a lot in common. See, the only difference is yours looks like James Harden and mine looks like Frederick Douglass!”
(Yes, that’s Leslie Jones for you) But she didn’t stop there and went on to share a close up of her crotch on Twitter!
During her introductory monologue Leslie Jones started off strong and revealed that she will be turning 50 years old in September. Then she went on to joke about how young she looks!
“I’m older than all y’all, I’m about to be 50-years-old in September. That’s right. Black don’t crack, but you do have to use some lotion.”
As the host, Leslie handled the glitch like a professional as dealt with it with great humor, bugging her eyes out at the camera. It definitely took our attention off what was going on!
