A List Of All The Stars Who Refused To Perform At Trump’s Inauguration

Politics is tough. Last year, the news was lit with news on Time’s Person of the Year, Donald Trump. The Celebrity Apprentice star was running as the Republican candidate, and finally won the election to be the next President of the United States. Not a lot of people are happy. After Cecile B DeMille award winner Meryl Streep showed her grief about the billionaire public during her speech at this year’s Golden Globes, multiple celebrities from Hollywood are taking a stand against his behavior and nasty tweets.

On January 20, 2017 Donald J Trump will be sworn in as the President of the United States, taking over from eight years of glorious reign by Barack Obama. The event is usually star-studded, and millions of people watch the telecast, which is supposed to be a glorious ceremony. It’s a big deal. In the past, some of the best performers have contributed their talent, in honor and pride of their next leader. But things aren’t looking so good for Trump’s inauguration. Though invitations have been sent out to the vast talent within the United States and even crossing borders to the United Kingdom, here is a list of all the stars who have refused, outright, to perform at this year’s ceremony –

Elton John

The Circle Of Life legend has publicly stated that he will not be on the roster of performers. “He will not be performing,” was the simple statement.

Céline Dion

The Canadian singer is more elegant with her response. She has cited that she will be busy with her live shows in Las Vegas.

Andrea Bocelli

The Italian tenor’s reason for not performing is mixed – Trump’s camp says that he was “rejected” by them, but sources close to him say he backed out after severe backlash.

KISS

Is it really formal to involve a rock performance at such an event? According to frontman Gene Simmons’ wife: “They asked and he politely declined” because the band is supposedly on tour in Europe and she added, “I think people should get over it and move on. He’s our President and that’s it, end of story.”

Garth Brooks

The country singer also politely declined, though no official statement has been released.

David Foster

The legendary music producer has been a friend of Trump’s for a while now, but he simply said, “I was invited to participate and I politely declined.” Sources say that it was actually due to him not wanted to incur the ire of Hillary Clinton’s people who support his charity.

Rebecca Ferguson

The British singer famously said that she would be happy to perform, only if it was to sing Billy Holiday’s song Strange Fruit that talks about black slavery.

Charlotte Church

The Welsh singer was more open about her disdain for Trump, saying: “A simple Internet search would show you’re a tyrant. Bye!”

It’s now left to be seen who is going to end up performing, at the risk of their own careers. Everybody who is anybody has distanced themselves from the billionaire.
