Nike’s Self Lacing Sneakers To Finally Go On Sale On November 28th

Monday, November 28th, is the day that some Nike enthusiasts and fans of the 1989 classic movie ‘Back to the Future II’ will live the reality of self-lacing shoes. Nike director Heidi Burgett revealed on Twitter that the HyperAdapt 1.0 will be available for “experience and purchase” at Nike retail locations in the U.S. Though the director did not announce the price of these futuristic sneakers, his tweet suggested that they’ll be highly-priced.

Features of Nike self-lacing sneakers

  1. The shoe uses an internal cable system and a pressure sensor installed in the sole.
  2. The battery-powered HyperAdapt 1.0 is charged using a magnetic adapter similar to that used to charge Apple watches. Charging takes 3 hours and the charge lasts up to two weeks. There are lights on the side of the shoe indicating how much battery charge is remaining. A blue light implies full charge, yellow means just a few days of battery power and red means the shoe needs to be charged immediately.
  3. The wearer presses the “+” button by the tongue to tighten the laces. LEDs on the heel light up as the laces are tightening.
  4. To loosen the laces, the wearer presses the “-” button. You can remove the shoe even when the battery is dead.

There is more to expect – says Nike

Though many consider the Nike self-lacing sneakers to be the coolest shoe, Nike thinks there are more prospects in shoe technology. Initially, one has to control the adjusting of the laces by pressing buttons. According to Nike, in future, we’ll have Nike shoes that are fully self-adjusting to match the athletes’ needs at all times during a race.

Though only a few will be lucky to get the HyperAdapt 1.0 on November 28th, the day is expected to bring a lot of excitement to all.

It will be a special day especially for sneakerheads and fans of film director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale. For now, Nike has not released precise dates when Nike self-lacing sneakers will be available in the U.K and other parts of the world.
