Iraq Bombings – More than 40 Killed In Iraq Attack, Mostly Shiite Pilgrims

Updated Trends: Iraq Bombings – More than 40 Killed In Iraq Attack, Mostly Shiite Pilgrims

Bomb blasts in Baghdad, Iraq today killed five people. Iraqi officials mention that Shia pilgrims have been targeted. The previous day, the bombings all over Baghdad killed as many as 40 pilgrims and the wounded are said to be more than 100.

The bomb blasts have not stopped the Shia pilgrims to step back, they are pouring in, in the city for the death anniversary of Imam Kadhim, seventh among the 12 holy figures who defined Shia faith.

On the final day of the festival, one million people are expected to visit the shrine of Moussa al- Kadhim.

Similar attacks by the extremist Sunni groups in the past make it very clear about their involvement in the bombings. The attacks are taking place irrespective of the heavy security imposed.
