Updated Trends: The latest trends related to television, internet and the mobile phones are changing among the younger generation. A recent survey has found that the younger people cannot do without their mobile phones and can even give up watching TV.
According to a survey conducted by Ofcom, 28 percent of the of youngsters between 16 to 24 years of age cannot do without television or internet and would not mind giving up their cell phones. The changes in the reading were seen for the first time, since the media regulator started the survey back in the year 2005.
26 percent of youngsters said that they would miss the internet the most. On the other hand, 23 percent said that they cannot do without their television sets. The report has said that 26 percent of the children between 12 to 15 years of age cannot be without their cell phones and can survive without internet and television.
The number of hours spent in front of television by adults increased from 12.2 hours in the year 2009 to 14.2 hours in the year 2010. The report had also mentioned that the number of text messages sent by the 12 to 15 year olds has increased to 113 compared to just 54 per week in the year 2007.
With the launch of newer cellphones every month, the mobile phone is no longer considered as a novelty, but more of a necessity as more and more youngsters consider it as a major part of their social upbringing.
