Updated Trends: The Governor of Punjab, Pakistan, Salman Taseer who had been assassinated on 4th of January, has been buried under tight security in Lahore. The high profile governor and media tycoon was killed by one of his own bodyguards, because of this views against the country’s strict Islamic laws. The 66 year old politician was a part of Benazir Bhutto’s Pakistan People Party, and was also a Chartered Accountant by profession.
Thousands of security guards were positioned outside Salman’s house, as the family and his close aides were under Islamists threat. Mr. Taseer was strictly speaking against the country’s over the edge laws which were more than just blasphemous. The city police on the other hand were on maximum alert and have been positioned in different parts of the Lahore.
Mumtaz Qadri, 26, was the guard who killed Salman, is being interrogated by the Police, where he said that he was planning about his assassination four days before he knew he will be guarding Salman. His assassination took place in Islamabad, when he was walking out of a restaurant and was shot by the guard on his back with an automatic weapon.
