Suicide bomb attack kills 9 in Pakistan

Updated Trends: At least nine people were killed and 28 others were injured, when a suicide bomb attack took place in Pakistan on Friday. Two children were among those who were killed. The incident took place in the northwest Pakistan.

The Pakistani police chief, Abdul Rashid Khan said that the bomb had hit the entrance gate of Al-Zuhra hospital and maternity centre. The incident took place in Pass Kalay, a town in the district of Hangu. The hospital and the Mosque had served Shia patients and worshippers.

The impact of the blast had damaged two houses, a mosque and two vehicles. Hangu is situated near the tribal region of Pakistan and this area is known for the conflicts between the Sunni and the Shia sects of the Muslim community.

The attack happened on the second day of Muhharam. Muhharam is considered as one of the holiest days on the Muslim calendar. According to the calendar, on such days, fighting and violence is prohibited.
