Disney+ subscription to get more expensive

American on-demand streaming service Disney+ is all set to get more expensive. The platform has a new ad-supported subscription tier which is ready to make its debut on December 8, 2022 and will cost $7.99 per month. The official announcement about the new plan was made by Disney+ on August 10, 2022. The price is the same that the consumers are currently paying for the service without the ads. There is also a premium tier that will not have any commercials and would cost $10.99 per month which marks a $3 jump from the existing plan.

This has also marked the largest price increase in the subscription plan since it made its debut in November 2019. It had hiked its prices by $1 in March 2021. The recent price hike as come as the service has faced a good quarter as it clocked 14.4 million subscribers during the third quarter and exceeded the expectations of Wall Street. At present the service has 152.1 million subscribers. The resent results of the service has sent its shared up by 6 percent during the after-hours trading.

As of now Disney+ is not the only Disney streaming service which has hiked its prices. Hulu will also be receiving a price hike between $1 to $7.99 for its subscription supported by ads and $2 to $14.99 for the subscription tier that has no ads. The only service that will not get any hike is the premium Disney Bundle which brings together the streaming offerings from Disney+ and Hulu and will remain at $19.99. The recent move will encourage viewers to sign up for the entire fleet of services instead of just one. The company is also launching fresh bundle plans and is offering Disney+ and Hulu with ads for $9.99.

With the recent announcement, it seems like the offering tied up streaming services is the new focus of the company.
