Updated Trends: France Strikes Enter Seventh Day – Government Uses Forces To Break Blockades At Oil Depots
The massive strikes in France has entered the seventh day on Wednesday. Reports state that it is sad to that the government using help from the forces to break blockades from three oil depots in West France. Unions have stated that they would be continuing their strikes on Wednesday, and the national transportation too has joined to continue it.
The railways have said that they will be continuing their strike, but would be running only half of the trains across the country. Student leaders across the country have brought in more pupils from the nation to join the ongoing strike, in an attempt to show the government the majority of students disagreeing the latest retirement and pension reform move.
Oil and other energy sources are the main things that have been strongly affected by the strike. Almost 12 refineries across the nation have locked down due to the strike, as a result there has been acute fuel shortage on numerous fuel stations and also at the airports in France. It has been reported that some 1.1 million people in total have hit the streets to protest against the retirement age and pension age.
