Endometriosis is a problem that can occur in women when the cells that are similar to the endometrium grow outside of the uterus. This can also appear on the ovaries, uterus or the fallopian tubes and very rarely it can also appear on the other parts of the body. Some of the common symptoms of the condition include pelvic pain, pain in bowel movements, heavy periods and infertility. The cause of the condition is not really clear ad nearly 25 percent of the individuals having the condition show no symptoms. Although the condition is not considered as very serious, it can be managed with proper medications and proper food intake.
1. Turmeric – Turmeric contains anti-inflammatory properties and helps with the repair of the lesions caused by the condition. These lesions lead to heavy blood flow during menstruation. It also prevents the condition to spread to the muscles which means that it also helps in the cramps.
2. Probiotics – Probiotics are living bacteria that are good for the gut health. When they are consumed during the periods, it protects the reproductive system from different kinds of infections.
3. Magnesium – it is a natural relaxing agent. When you are consuming period snacks, you can make sure that you include foods that are rich in magnesium like sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, green and leafy vegetables and organic dark chocolate.
4. Green tea – Green tea has epigallocatechin gallate which is a plant compound with anti-oxidant properties. It helps with the cellular damage and can be consumed with honey.
Foods like red meat, dairy products with high fat content, sugar and too much of caffeine should be avoided by women who suffer from the condition. However, people with the condition should consult a gynaecologist for proper treatment plan and cure.
