5 Ways to detox post festive season

Festive season would mean plenty of food with sweets and different delicacies to relish. While this would also mean stress on your healthy routine that you have been maintaining. It is OK if you have indulged in desserts and some mouthwatering delicacies and there is nothing to regret but if you are worried about the stress your body could go through, here are a few tips that would help to detox your body.

1. Indulge in foods that are easy to digest – After treating yourself with plenty of binge worthy foods, now it is important that you switch to eating foods that are easy to digest and gentle on your stomach. Make sure they are rich in protein and low in fat. Also make sure that you remain away from dairy for a few days and include foods like porridge, soups, salads and more.

2. Consume seasonal fruits and vegetables – Make sure that you include seasonal fruits and vegetables in your diet. Vegetables like kale, spinach, broccoli and cabbage have anti-oxidants that help to deal with any kind of inflammation. Seasonal fruits reduce bloating and help to cleanse the gastrointestinal tract.

3. Exercise – Another best way to deal with the festive after effects is exercise. You can go for long walks or indulge in other activities like cycling, running or pilates. Optionally, yoga is also a great way to give your body a good detox.

4. Consume fermented foods – Make sure these foods are naturally fermented. For instance curd and other foods that include the process of fermentation. They contain good bacteria which is good for the gut health and makes it easy for the body to digest and detox.

5. Avoid sugar and alcohol – Make sure you stop the consumption of sugar and alcohol that helps the body to detox. Too much of alcohol consumption is not good for the liver and sugar promotes inflammation and resistance to insulin.
