Porche suspends production due to conflict in Ukraine

The Russian invasion over Ukraine is affecting a number of sectors across the globe. Luxury auto giant Porche has announced that it is pausing all of its production due to the ongoing situation. An internal memo that was rotated within the company was posted on Twitter and mentioned that it was due to the supply chain issues the disruptions have been caused. However, no confirmation has been given about the validity of the memo. People who might be looking forward to own new Porches could have to wait a little longer till the situation eases.

Starting from March 17, 2022, the production of its 911 GT3 and the GT3 Touring will be halted. Later the other 911 productions are expected to be halted on March 31, 2022. Reports have also mentioned that the cars mentioned above will be joining the cars including Taycan, Cayenne, Macan and Panamera which have already on the paused list. For now nothing can be predicted as to how long it would take to get the production back on track. Talking about the Mecan and Panamera models, the company has assured that the production would restart from March 11, 2022.

The recent news of production has surfaced a week after the company had announced that it has stopped delivering vehicles to Russia. The German based car manufacturer, operates nearly 26 Porche centres across Russia and in the 2021 financial year, it delivered 6,262 vehicles in the country. The Cayenne is the most popular model of Porche in 2021 and accounted for 54 percent of all the deliveries.

The current crisis in Ukraine has affected the entire car auto industry. Even the prices of gasoline have skyrocketed around the country. The gasoline price hike comes as a time when the world was recovering well from the COVID-19 pandemic and was almost back on track in terms of economic well-being. It cannot be said when the situation could get back to normal.
