Foods to consume before and after taking COVID-19 vaccine

After nearly a year since the coronavirus pandemic began, a number of pharma giants managed to launch vaccines to be effective against the virus. Governments across the globe are running campaigns for the vaccine drive and a number of people are encouraged to get them. However, a number of people who have got them have experienced minor side effects like fever, heaviness and body soreness. These symptoms are common for any vaccine as the body struggles to get adjusted to the sudden boost of the anti-bodies. To deal with this there are a few foods that can be taken by people before and after taking the shot.

Here are a few ingredients that can be consumed before taking the vaccine.

1. Garlic and ginger – Garlic and ginger are herbs that are used as flavours in a number of cuisines across the globe. These are commonly used in the Asian cuisines and have a number of immunity boosting properties. They are great to feed the gut with good microscopic organisms that work like probiotics.

2. Turmeric – This is another spice that is commonly used in a number of savory cuisines. The spice has a yellow compound due to the curcumin content in it which works like an anti-biotic and anti- inflammatory. A pinch of it can be added to a glass of warm milk with some sugar.

3. Fresh fruits – Fruits are a great source of vitamins and minerals. They also contain fibre which is essential to boost the immunity of the body. It is advisable to eat at least one fruit before your appointment for inoculation.

Foods to be consumed post vaccination

1. Chicken/vegetable soup – After vaccination you might be vulnerable to fever which is normal and is no cause for concern. Chicken soup or vegetable soup support the body immunity and also falls smooth on the gut health.

2. Dark Chocolate – Post vaccination can be a great time to have some dark chocolate as it can help in prevention coronary illness. They can also be good as they help to deal with stress.

3. Water – Remaining hydrated post vaccination is vital for the mind and body.
