Starbucks to offer free coffee for front-line workers throughout December

American coffeehouse chain Starbucks has come up with an initiative to thank the front-line workers, who have been working hard day and night during the coronavirus pandemic. The company will be offering free coffee to the front-line workers working during the pandemic. AN official announcement came from Starbucks on December 1, 2020 that mentioned that it will be giving away a free tall brewed coffee (hot or iced) at the participating locations throughout the month of December, 2020.

Virginia Tenpenny, the vice president of Starbucks’ Global Social Impact initiative said that it has been a tough year for the for the world especially for the front-line responders who have been serving the communities. Tenpenny added that this will be a way to show gratitude towards the hard workers, who supported and protected people every day. This would be a small gesture of the kindness. The front-line workers can claim their cup of warm coffee by just showing up and identifying themselves. There is no requirement to show their ID proofs.

Starbucks has mentioned that people who are eligible include firefighters, pharmacists, public health workers, nurses, doctors, dispatchers, paramedics, dentists, police officers, dental hygeinists, social workers, mental health workers, hospital staff members that include janitors, housekeeping security and more and active duty military members.

But that is not all rom Starbucks, the company is also preparing 50,000 care packages and gift cards that will be given out to the front-line workers with the help of Operation Gratitude. Starbucks has also donated $100,000 for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). The NAMI works to provide mental health facilities for the essential workers. This is not the first time Starbucks has offered free coffee for the frontline workers. It has done so at the beginning of the pandemic between March to May, 2020. The chain has so far given away 2 million cups of free coffee along with 300,000 care packages for the essential workers.
