Amazon to delay Prime Day sale due to coronavirus pandemic

Every year, the Prime users of Amazon eagerly wait for the Prime Day sale that is usually hosted during the mid-month of July. But the coronavirus pandemic this year, there are chances that the sale could be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The delay is predicted as the company has so far not advertised the event like it usually does every year.

A spokesperson from Amazon was asked about the upcoming Amazom Prime Day sale to which the representative said that no announcements or details have been announced on it. A report from a leading daily has mentioned that the company has decided to move the Prime Day sale to September, instead of having it in July, 2020. People familiar with the matter revealed about the development on the condition of anonymity.

The reason behind the delay is not just the pandemic, but also to reduce the strain on the warehouses as it has been trying to keep up with the demand since the last few months of the Americans who have been indoors due to the pandemic. While the shoppers are waiting for the Prime Day sale, the company has announced the Big Style Sale which is an event that is offering discounts of up to 50 percent on some of the top brands.

Amazon was so far concentrating only on the essentials during the lockdown period and now that things have started to ease, people are now looking forward to buy clothing that they could not do during the lockdown period. Now that the Prime Day remains postponed to September, it is a good opportunity for Amazon to concentrate on apparel and they are doing it by starting off with a lucrative sale. At present the brands like Adidas, Steve Madden, Nautica, Levi’s and Samsonite are running big sales. The trend of Prime Day sale began in 2015 as it completed 20 years in the industry.
