Facebook announces cancellation of all planned events with 50 or more attendees till June 2021

Social networking giant Facebook has taken an important decision in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic . CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that it will not be holding any real life meet-ups or events for more than a year. The CEO added that it is still continuing to encourage its workers to work from home as a preventive measure to spread the virus. Zuckerberg has clarified that all the Facebook’s planned physical events that will have 50 or more attendees will be cancelled till June 2021.

However, the CEO has also assured that a few virtual events would be possible. Zuckerberg clarified about how things could be when the society tries to reopen and gave an update on how they would be planning with their team. It was further informed that they are in no hurry to get back to their respective offices as it is giving a priority to the rest of the community and the local economy to get a back up and running first. Facebook has its headquarters in Menlo Park. in California and it has maintained its stay-home order since March 19, 2020.

California is not allowing a reopen unless testing is done across the state and a proper tracking system is also laid out. The government of President Donald Trump has left it to the states to determine about the safest path while reopening. Zuckerberg has also informed that there is a small percent of people who will not be able to work remotely and include the content reviewers who are working on counter-terrorism or suicide or self-harm prevention. The engineers working on the complex hardware would be working from home. Many of the Facebook employees are fortunate that they will be able to be productive while being at home.

These are all the measures that are being taken by the social networking giant in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
