Reduced salt intake reduces risk of heart diseases

One of the basic ingredients of any food is salt. Without salt, any food cannot taste good as it helps to enhance all the flavors. Salt contains sodium chloride and the human body needs adequate account of sodium from salt, which means that salt is essential but in a limited amount. However, excessive of salt can lead to a number of health issues like problems in the kidneys, arteries which can lead to stroke, kidney failure or even a heart attack. A new study has mentioned that excessive salt intake can be bad for the heart health. But if the salt intake is reduced then it can also save you from future heart ailments.

The new study has been published in the British Journal and says that the risk of heart issues can be reduced dramatically by reducing the salt intake in food. The authors of the study have insisted that high blood pressure is the main cause of heart problems. However, this does not mean that you need to stop the salt intake completely, but it can be reduced as it will have a positive impact on the health. Under the study, 133 trials were conducted through which it was found that there was a visible link between reduced intake of dietary sodium and a controlled blood pressure.

Even medical experts have said it is beneficial for people who are dealing with high blood pressure. People who are suffering from hypertension can make a few changes in the lifestyle like regular exercise and reduced intake of salt. Experts say that the blood pressure level should always be at 130/90 which is the ideal level.

Apart from reduced salt intake, one has to also follow a healthy lifestyle to remain fit. Even walking for about 30 minutes for five days in a week is sufficient to maintain proper health. Once in a while you can also include pink Himalayan salt as a substitute.
