Nissan recalls 1.3 million vehicles over back up camera display defect

Japan based auto manufacturer Nissan has recalled 1.3 of its cars that have an issue with the      backup camera display. The surprising part is that not just one model, but many models of the company have been affected by the recall and  have the potential to face the backup camera display issue. The recall has affected the 2018 and 2019 models of  the Nissan Frontier, Maxima, Altima, Sentra, Titan and others.

Even the Infinity Q series has been affected by the recall. From 2019,  the Nissan GT-R, Taxi and  the Infinity Q series have  also been recalled to fix the issue.  The recall applies mostly for the United States and Canada, but some of the cars that need a repair have reportedly been sent to Saipan, Taiwan and Israel. The backup camera display that has been installed in the cars, do not comply with the safety standards laid down by the government.

At present the car owners are making temporary changes in the settings , so that they do not see what the backup camera is showing. But when the settings stays in that way and does not revert back for next time the display has to be used. Dealerships of Nissan have been briefed about the recall and will be fixing the issue for free staring from October 21, 2019

The auto giant has clarified that it has not announced the recall due to any reported car crash, accident or any injury, but is just a safety measure that it is taking to ensure the safety of the driver and the passengers. Nissan became the sixth largest auto manufacturer in the world in 2013. The company was established in 1933 and has its headquarters in Yokohama. Not many know that it is the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in the world  and the top selling vehicle in the electric segment is the Nissan Leaf.
