Cutting 300 calories from everyday diet can help reduce risk of cardiovascular diseases

If you are one of those who are trying hard to get rid of extra fat from the body to maintain cardiovascular health, here is some good news. One needs not to indulge in any fancy diets or cut down drastically on the calories. In fact, cutting just 300 calories from the everyday diet can significantly benefit the cardiovascular health. A new study has said that cutting 300 calories an work even if the person is already healthy weight.

Such kind of calorie restrictions can be achieved with the help of the techniques like intermittent fasting. Or you can just skip the slice of cheesecake for dessert which can make a big difference. The research carried on in a course of two years and participants in the study who were on a calorie restriction diet, lowered their blood pressure as well as levels of bad cholesterol. It was noticed that there was a 24 percent drop in the concentration of triglycerides, which is a type of fat in the blood.

Dr. William Kraus, distinguished professor at Duke University of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, a senior author in the study said that reduction of calories everyday refers to the average cut back in the calories that was obtained by the study participants. Dr. Kraus added, “Exercise and diet are the two most profound and easily implemented interventions we have in our environment that can reduce our cardiovascular risks”.

The study had involved 218 healthy adults between the ages 21 to 50 and were in three clinical centres across the United States. 143 of the adults were randomly assigned to begin a 25 percent calorie restriction diet, which means that they had to cut back 25 percent of what they would normally consume and the remaining 75 adults followed a free-feeding diet, which means that they ate normally. Each group was closely monitored in terms of their cholesterol levels, blood pressure and triglycerides concentration over the period of two years. It was found that in the calorie restriction group, levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol decreased significantly after one year.
