Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not to follow a few traditions at christening of baby Archie

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing for the upcoming Christening ceremony of their new-born Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The event is expected to take place sometime in July, 2019. During an interview to a leading daily, Royal commentator, Camilla Tominey revealed that the couple might not follow a few traditions and will follow some of the royal protocols like the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby officiating over the christening of baby Archie.

Tominey added, “St George’s Chapel in Windsor is where Harry was christened in 1984. And remember that Honiton lace christening gown that has been worn by all royal children? It’s actually a replica of the original dress that Queen Victoria’s children were christened in.” Meghan and Harry have selected St. George’s Chapel for baby Archie’s christening ceremony.

Baby Archie will be wearing the traditional Windsor garmet for the day which is the replica of the Honiton lace christening gown that was commissioned by Queen Victoria for the baptism of her first child in the year 1841. The gown has been 62 royal babies and it became very fragile due to which a replica has been made. The christening event will have the Archbishop of Canterbury and will be conducted by Dean of Windsor the Rev David Conner and Justin Welby.

The event will also see the presence of the grandparents Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Prince William and Kate. Reports say that the Queen will not be present for the christening event as she has another engagement. Tominey has also said that Princess Eugenie will be chosen to be the godparent for baby Archie as she is very close to Prince Harry. Meghan Markle gave birth to Baby Archie on May 6, 2019 in London at the Portland Hospital. Many landmarks were illuminated in different colors to mark the birth of the royal baby.
