Looks like Rosalie Cullen from Twilight finally had her happy ending! Nikki Reed and The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder have become parents! The happy couple welcomed their first child together, a daughter. And she has the most unique Hollywood baby-exclusive name: Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder.
For the uninitiated, Bodhi is a Sanskrit derivative, meaning ‘enlightened’, while Soleil means ‘sunlight’. Wow.
The baby was born on July 25 and she and her happy mother are said to be doing well. Nikki Reed had first made her pregnancy announcement back in May, when she donned a dress from her Bayou With Love collection and said, “I know you, but only because I feel you. How is it possible to love someone so much already? All I know for sure is it’s the strongest feeling I’ve ever felt. We’ve been sharing this body for quite some time, and we’ve already experienced so much together. We can’t wait to meet you… Love, your parents.”
Hubby Ian Somerhalder was just as ecstatic, when he wrote, “To our friends, family and the rest of the world. In my 38 years on this earth I’ve never experienced anything more powerful and beautiful than this. I can’t think of anything more exciting than this next chapter and we wanted you to hear this from us first.”
The handsome actor added, “This has been the most special time of our lives and we wanted to keep this between the three of us for as long as possible so we could enjoy this time with each other and with our little one who is growing so fast… because that’s what they do, they grow so fast. Thank you for your kind energy.”
Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed had sparked romance rumours back in 2014 when they were spotted for the first time together at a farmers’ market. They tied the knot in a romantic wedding ceremony in 2015 and seem to be as loved-up as ever.
Nikki Reed had called off her 2-year marriage with musician Paul McDonald. Ian Somerhalder had been dating his TVD co-star Nina Dobrev for nearly three years. Though tabloids were quick to make up rumours that there was bad blood between Dobrev and Reed, they continue to remain good friends and even posted images of them hanging out on social media.
Here’s wishing Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed happy parenthood with Bodhi Soleil! And speaking of celebrity baby names, Transformers star Megan Fox also has a son with Brian Austin Green, called Bodhi.
